Prehistory of Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) - Neolithic
|
Reconstruction of an early farming settlement (c. 4500 BC) consisting of two
pairs of houses located near a river valley (based on excavation results from
Racot, district of Kościan).
They represent the type of Neolithic 'trapezoidal longhouse' (measuring c. 50 x 12 m) built on a framework of oak posts set in a foundation trench. The walls of these houses were often filled with wattle and clay and then whitewashed. |
