The Archaeological Reserve at Ostrów Tumski Project
|
The Archaeological Museum in Poznań is carrying out a project " Archaeological
Park in Ostrów Tumski". It will be an exhibition of the unique remains
of the early Piast fortifications from the 10 th century. The Park
will be situated in Ks. I. Posadzy Street , and its organization will
be possible thanks to the cooperation between the City of Poznań and
the Metropolitan Curia. With the inclusion of the Park in the Wielkopolska
Regional Operational Programme for the years 2007-2013 we have
the possibility of using European funds administered by the Wielkopolskie
Voivodship Marshall Office. At the present moment the area of the future Park is undergoing archaeological work aimed at preparing the artefacts intended for exhibition. They include original remains of the 10 th century fortifications as well as relics of defensive walls from the 16 th century. At the same time work on the execution of the architectural project, prepared by the winner of the competition announced in 2009 - TOYA Design, is underway. Building work and arrangement of the exhibition will be carried out in the years 2010-2012. We have prepared for you a set of photographs documenting successive stages of archaeological work at the site of the future Park. Among others, they show the exposition of wooden and stone elements of the embankments encircling the fortified settlement, and the consolidation and separation of their cross-sections. You are most cordially invited to visit the Archaeological Park in Ostrów Tumski in 2012!
