We
invite you to take a part in a remarkable trip following the characters
of the famous novel
"In desert and wilderness" by Henryk Sienkiewicz.
It will bring us to several places described in the novel. Using
photographs taken at the beginning of 20th century and modern
photographs, the atmosphere of old and recent Egypt and Sudan
will be brought to life. Apart from the landscapes and cities
visited by Staś Tarkowski and Nel Rawlison, the archaeological
sites passed by them will be presented, as well as the items of
the Arabian culture from 19th/20th century. The reconstruction
of common Sudan house and Bedouin tent will be presented at the
museum. It will be also an opportunity to exhibit the artefacts
brought from the archaeological reconnaissance in the area of
the IVth Nile cataract in Sudan in 2005.
At the Henryk Sienkiewicz Literature Museum in Poznań (located
on Old Market Square) an exhibition concerning Henryk Sienkiewicz
work on the book, his preparations and the trip to Egypt will
be displayed. Tickets bought in Poznań Archaeological Museum are
also valid in the H.Sienkiewicz Literature Museum.
The exhibition will be displayed from May 22nd to June 16th, 2005.
