A model of old Poznań shows the city
the way it was presented in the drawing by Braun-Hogenberg from
1618. It was made by
Krzysztof Przybyła, with the historical
consultation of
Prof. Jacek Wiesiołowski. The construction
of the model took 6 years and was preceded by detailed studies
into the history of old Poznań, its iconography and modern reconstructions.
The model covers the area of over 50 square metres and consists
of over 2 000 elements made of paper, modelling clay, sand and
substances used in modern modelling. It is accompanied by a
recorded half-hour commentary which tells about the old Poznań,
the life of its inhabitants and the ways the city has changed
over the ages. The model can be visited daily in the vaults
of the Franciscan Convent on Wzgórze Przemysława (Przemysław
Hill, entrance from Ludgardy Street).
