This web page has been developed as one of the products of the international project AREA_IV. Archives of European Archaeology (in the frames of the European Programme CULTURE_2000). We present here - in co-operation with other partners of the project - data for the biograms of European archaeologists and other persons supporting archaeological research. The data are presented in a twofold way:
     a/ as a database containing summarised information on a certain person following a unified standard (in two language versions: English and Polish; http://www.muzarp.poznan.pl/archeo/index.php),
     b/ as an Internet library , composed of e-versions of publications devoted to the said person (biograms, anniversary and casual notes, bibliographies, obituary notices etc.).

           The hitherto published materials are derived from several Polish scientific and popular archaeological journals. So far, the e-library contains 805 publications on 488 persons, including 448 publications in Polish and 357 in other languages (mainly in English and German) as well as 264 photos.

          We would like to thank all the editors for their permission to use the chosen publications in this way. We are developing this Internet site with the belief that it will help to further disseminate the achievements of European archaeology.
